Today's Class

Ahmed and Jack,

Today in class we will be touring EKU's library (on our own). We'll meet in Java City and spend a minute or two discussing your homework, then we'll walk around the library. I'll show you where to find books and other printed sources related to your topics, good places to work, where to find help, and how to use the computer to search for library items.

Next on the list (probably for Monday) is a discussion of how to use web-based sources.

Diversity Breakfast

Everyone,

Don't forget about the Diversity Breakfast (like I did in class this morning). They'll start serving food at 7:30 AM and the program starts at 8:00 AM.

ENG 102, we are all registered to attend. Remember, we'll be meeting in Keene Johnson Ballroom before 8:00 AM; the program will last until around 9:30 AM but you may leave at 8:50 AM if you need to get to another class.

EELI, Mr. Smith and Ms. Payne, I think, are taking you.

Creating an Outline

Everyone,

Here is a template to follow while working on your outlines. This template, which is from the St. Helen's School District in Oregon, exemplifies an outline quite well, except for Part A in the introduction. Remember what we discussed in class about creating introductions. You need to grab the reader's attention (and keep it) while providing information that both introduces your thesis and prepares the reader for the coming discussion.

University Diversity Breakfast

Eastern's Diversity Breakfast will be on Wednesday, September 22.

EELI students, Ms. Payne and Mr. Smith told me you will be attending; I am also bringing my ENG 102 class. They are going to be using this blog as well.

ENG 102 students, instead of meeting for class on 22 September, we will meet in Keene Johnson Ballroom at 7:30 AM. I have confirmed our reservation with the people who handle catering, so they know to expect us. The program lasts until 9:30 AM, but if you have a class immediately after ours, you may leave at 8:50 AM--when our class would usually dismiss.
