1- Can I put real examples that happened to my friends or stories that I heared?
2- How to refrence the data that I will use from the Internet?
3- Can I put pictures to give a clear explanation?

Hi Yousef,

As we discussed earlier, examples that happened to you or your friends are called anecdotes. Using them to briefly make a point in an essay is acceptable.

Pictures and websites are great additions to an essay--especially those involving non-written or non-spoken communication. You'll need to provide a reference in-text as well as a Works Cited page for all pictures, internet sources and library sources.

In text, you'll reference each item in a unique way: pictures, for example, would be "In Figure One, xx x xxx x x x x"; print sources or those from the internet would be "According to CNN, x x x x x x x " (Source author's last name, page number).

Works Cited pages are very tricky; we'll talk about them in class. If you have any questions, we'll talk about them in class or you can post here.
